William's Story
After graduating WHS, without much honor, I started an apprenticeship at Fore River Shipyard (Bethlehem Steel) in Quincy, with the help of Bob Doherty'Âs father and Uncle Joe. This was interrupted by the draft in 1952 for the Korean War. Was released from the Army in '54 and was able to complete my apprenticeship. I felt the need for more education and spent a year at Boston University before transferring to Northeastern University. A few years later, I received a BS degree in business and finance. Along the way I married a young British girl with more intelligence and degrees than I could ever hope to achieve. to manage his estate upon his death. I worked at this task for many years until his widow'ÃÂÃÂs demise. I retired at age 52 from Chas T. Main, Boston (engineers and constructors) and now reside in southern Arizona on my ranch surrounded by cows and horses. My bride says I'ÃÂm too old for riding bulls any longer if I wish to continue functioning and keep all my original parts. I'Âm still considered an outsider down here, but through philanthropy and good deeds I'Âm making my way. Our children and grandchildren live in Florida and California.
